Decisions
The small decisions amazingly define our lives. A teaching
colleague of mine related how a tiny decision altered his life
completely.
He was driving to the next town to seek his fi rst
teaching position. There were several cars in front of him as
he came up to the intersection.
The light turned red and as he
sat there in traffic, he glanced over to the left and saw a school.
Instead of staying in line, he decided to turn into the parking
lot and check the hiring status of the school.
They were looking
for a teacher with his credentials. He got the job and spent the
first nine years of his career at that particular school.
He says that if there had not been traffic, if he had not pulled into that
school, if the school hadn’t hired him, he would have taught in
a different part of the country, married someone else, and had
different children.
A different life—all from heavy traffi c at the
intersection!

A friend of mine just emailed me one of your articles from a while back. I read that one a few more. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks
